It takes not only great skill but also discipline to run a successful business, balance volunteering and social commitments, all while maintaining academic excellence as a student. Graham does this with professionalism beyond his years. While Graham’s studies have taken him to Toronto and keep him extremely active, he remains committed to our community and continues to contribute at a high level. I say this for myself and also many others – we continue to follow Graham’s life journey with excitement, fully knowing there are even greater accomplishments ahead for him.
Marie Dressler Foundation engaged with Graham to produce a number of video interviews for display at the exhibition entitled “Cobourg’s Sweetheart: Celebrating Marie Dressler” at the Art Gallery of Northumberland. He demonstrated a flexible and responsive approach to dealing with a large number of interviewees in a relatively short period of time. His resulting high-definition video and sound capture is superb. When asked to be innovative in the editing process, Graham used his initiative to add still images to enhance the story, thus improving its overall appeal. We are proud of Graham’s work, and I would readily recommend him to others.
I hired Graham in 2015 to produce a video to help raise awareness about teen violence. He wrote the script, recruited his peers to act in the video and produced a quality PSA that has since been distributed across Ontario. When Graham found out that the video project was for a charity he donated his compensation back to the cause. This act of kindness demonstrates Graham’s community leadership in youth philanthropy. I had the opportunity to collaborate with Graham again in 2016-2017. Cobourg Council appointed me as Co-Chair of our Town’s Canada 150 Celebrations Committee where I was asked to delegate a Youth Representative. Naturally, and without reservation, I approached Graham who enthusiastically accepted the role. Graham brought a level of knowledge and passion for Canada’s historic milestone birthday that I wouldn’t have expected from a youth. This act of civicism demonstrates Graham’s community leadership in volunteerism.
It is rare that you encounter a young person whose production instincts and talent, are as outstanding as their character. My experience with Graham Beer of Cobourg Media was seamless from beginning to end. At every turn Graham thought outside the box, offering insightful ideas and going above and beyond our production needs, resulting in videos that exceeded all expectations.
